Enzymes are catalysts that increase the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed in the process. They are used in many industries, including agriculture and science. There are four main types of enzymes: proteases, peptidases, glycosidases, and nucleases. Proteases break down proteins into smaller amino acids. Peptidases break down proteins into smaller peptides. Glycosidases break down carbohydrates into simpler sugars. Nucleases break down DNA or RNA molecules into smaller nucleic acid fragments. The enzymes help us with the quick metabolism of food. Enzymes are proteins that help speed up metabolism, or the chemical reactions in our bodies. They build some substances and break others down.
